While these are the most common ailments that walk in to our Clinic, we also provide effective treatment for most other joint, muscle, and nerve conditions. And we also see many people who simply want to feel better from minor aches, pains, and areas of discomfort or stiffness.
From your very first visit, we set out to accurately assess and diagnose your problem and, if possible, to determine the underlying cause. This allows us to make treatment recommendations for you that are appropriate and specific to your particular problem and that align with your goals for pain relief, functional recovery, and/or a long-term correction or elimination of the root problem.
We then sit down with each patient to explain the problem in detail, to answer any questions, and to discuss the most appropriate and effective forms of treatment. We encourage our patients to make their own decisions regarding the type and amount of treatment they receive. While we do offer our recommendations for the most successful results, we also respect that every person comes to us for different reasons and with different goals in mind. In all instances, we endeavour to work with our patients to determine the most effective and practical way forward, always keeping in mind the patient's primary goals and reasons for seeking our care in the first place.
Wherever possible, we aim to involve our patients in the recovery process. Where appropriate we prescribe home care protocols and home exercises, and make a variety of useful suggestions that the patient can employ to avoid flare-ups and recurrences, to accelerate their rate of progress, and to self-manage their condition as desired. We may even make some useful lifestyle recommendations regarding such things as posture, ergonomics, diet and nutrition, activity level and general exercise, stress reduction, and your general health and wellbeing.
At Newnham Chiropractic, we put our patients first:
We seek to engage our patients, in working together with them to address the problem in the most effective way possible.
We seek to educate our patients, in the knowledge that the patient's understanding of the problem is important to their recovery, and to achieving a positive long-term outcome.
We seek to empower our patients, in teaching them how to take care of themselves. This requires the understanding that recovery from a health problem is, not unlike one's health itself, an active (i.e. not passive) process, requiring action, accountability, awareness, and ongoing maintenance.
And finally, we seek to inspire our patients, in reassuring them that improvement and recovery are indeed possible, in encouraging them to pursue the best possible outcome for themselves, and in teaching them the "big picture" - that the body is a wonderfully complex, intelligently designed, self-healing and self-regulating system, that will usually drive itself toward its own recovery and wellbeing when allowed to do so.
